It will be their wedding anniversary but her husband will be nowhere in sight.
President Arroyo is saddened over the absence of First Gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo on their 37th wedding anniversary, but asserted that this painful decision to be apart shows that her responsibility to the nation is her highest priority. The first couple will celebrate their anniversary on Aug. 2.
Ranked as the fourth worlds most powerful woman by Forbes magazine, Mrs. Arroyo displayed her frail side as she admitted her sadness over her separation from her husband, who has gone on a self-imposed exile since July 5.
