It's not exactly the first combination of things that come to mind when speaking of ancient Chinese customs - Colorado, Iowa, water, dragon boats and the memory of a dead poet.
But today and Sunday, more than 65,000 Coloradans are expected to gather at the shores of Sloan's Lake for the annual Dragon Boat Festival. During the event, 54 teams will paddle furiously across the water in boats made in the Hawkeye state adorned with dragon heads and tails in hopes of capturing a trophy.
