DENVER _ It turns out that Rockies first baseman Todd Helton isn't invincible.
Still slowed by a strained left calf muscle, Helton was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday for the first time in his career. The move is retroactive to Tuesday, meaning Helton could return to the lineup as early as the next homestand.
Helton said he has been unable to walk at a fast pace without experiencing pain since he injured his calf Monday against the New York Mets. Running would have been out of the question.
