The defense in the trial of former President Joseph Estrada has never petitioned the Supreme Court to create a special court to try the case of the deposed president, his lawyer Rene Saguisag said yesterday.
Saguisag made the statement during oral arguments on Estradas bail petition in answer to a remark by Chief Special Prosecutor Dennis Villa Ignacio who said it was Estradas camp that petitioned the High Court to create a special court.
Saguisag challenged the Supreme Court and Villa Ignacio to produce the alleged petition or any documents or transcripts of records that could prove the prosecutors claim.
