The 2nd District Appellate Court in Elgin has upheld a Lake County ordinance regulating adult entertainment.
Enacted in 1998, the ordinance requires dancers to wear minimal clothing while performing, dictates that all dancing must be done on a stage at least 18 inches off the ground and no closer than 8 feet to any patron and sets age limits for patrons and hours of operation.
The owners of the Dancers and Baby Dolls strip clubs and Video Age adult bookstore sued to block enforcement of the ordinance, claiming it amounted to an unconstitutional prior restraint on free speech and that the county failed to demonstrate adverse ...
