After reviewing data on total dietary fatty acid digestibility and production responses, three major conclusions can be drawn: (1) different sources of fat have different effects on total diet digestibility and rumen function; (2) various fat supplements have different digestibilities and rumen properties, and (3) calcium salts of fatty acids have the highest digestibility among unsaturated fatty acid sources.
