Aug. 4--Lachlan Murdoch will receive a multimillion dollar payment and a two-year consulting arrangement despite his sudden resignation as publisher of the New York Post and heir apparent to father Rupert Murdoch's media empire, according to a securities filing made yesterday.
Rupert Murdoch also has named himself Post publisher in a move aimed at reassuring nervous employees and advertisers, experts said. The Post represents a tiny, money-losing division of News Corp., owner of the Fox television network, movie studios, book publishers and chains of newspapers in Britain and Australia.
