Cable News Network (CNN), the Atlanta-based pioneer of 24-hour television news, became the biggest shareholder recently of Germany's N-TV broadcasting station.
CNN's purchase of 27.5 percent of N-TV, which began in November in Berlin with round-the-clock programming, raises the stakes in Germany's hotly contested television market.
