HERE IS THE thing: I can barely remember ever considering men to be great mysteries. There were far too many of them messing around in my life for that. I was born into a clan of men, seven brothers in all. They measure all shades of a brown rainbow and for every tall and lanky one there is an opposite. One fishes, one cooks, another guards prisoners. They're mine. And whenever I imagine them, they are always in one room. When I put myself in there with them, I have this warm feeling of being surrounded.
