Aug. 5--HARLINGEN -- Tattoo shop owners say that the variety of people who are permanently inked and public acceptance of them has broadened in recent years.

"I think it's starting to loosen up a little down here," El Loco Tattoo artist Roy Lynch said. "It's not stereotyped as much as it was before. It could be anybody."

"We tattoo everybody: man, anywhere from 18 to 70 years of age," said Sergio "Kujo" Dowd, owner of Kujo's Krazy Tattoo. "We tattoo from any street 'hood gangster to any law enforcement officer or lawyer."
