Aug. 5--MIDLANDS -- Northern Border Partners, the Omaha-based natural gas pipeline operator, said Thursday its second-quarter net income totaled $28.1 million, or 55 cents per partnership unit, down 15.6 percent from $33.3 million, or 66 cents per unit, a year earlier.
The net income decline was partly due to unused pipeline capacity and discounted rates for transporting natural gas. Revenue for the three months that ended June 30 totaled $149.4 million in the latest quarter, up 4.8 percent from $142.5 million.
