Adacel (tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertussis vaccine, adsorbed, Aventis Pasteur)
The Food and Drug Administration approved Adacel, a new vaccine for single booster immunization against pertussis (whooping cough) in combination with tetanus and diphtheria, for patients 11-64 years old.
* Recommended Dosage: A single intramuscular injection of one dose (0.5 mL).
* Special Considerations: Pain at injection site was the most commonly reported adverse event in a study that included 1,184 adolescents given Adacel and 792 given a comparison vaccine, tetanus and diphtheria toxoids adsorbed for adult use (Td) vaccine. ...
