There is no known way to prevent the development of Alzheimer's disease. However, researchers suspect a healthy lifestyle, including controlling blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, and getting moderate exercise, may help prevent the disease or delay its onset.
For instance, one study found that regular physical activity could reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease by up to 50 percent in all individuals, up to 60 percent for women with high levels of physical activity.
Additionally, some studies suggest that regular use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like aspirin or ibuprofen, could reduce a person's risk. In one large Canadian study, regular use ...
