* Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive brain disease responsible for the majority of cases of dementia in older people. Hallmark signs of AD include memory loss, confusion, poor judgment, wandering and depression or an indifferent attitude.
* The older someone gets, the more likely he or she is to acquire AD. One in 10 people over the age of 65 has Alzheimer's and it's estimated that half the people in the U.S. older than 85 have AD. A small percentage of people as young as their 30s and 40s get the disease.
