Lawsuit filed over 2003 gas spill.

Aug. 9--Downstream property owners have sued the David Oil Co. and two related companies over an August 2003 gasoline spill in Hunnicutt Creek.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Clarke County Superior Court, claims the downstream property owners' property was damaged by the Aug. 10, 2003, spill of more than 6,000 gallons from storage tanks at 3450 Jefferson Road in Athens.

Named defendants are RDOC Inc., Petro Express Inc., Petro Ventures Inc. and their owner, Glenn "Rusty" David.

The spill was one of the largest in Clarke County history, state Environmental Protection Division officials said at the time.
