About 1.3 million people employed in the frozen shrimp processing industry in the Khulna district of Bangladesh fear loss of their jobs as they are facing gradual closure of units.
Out of 80 processing plants, 40 have already been shut down and 25 are on the verge of closure, industry sources said. The shuttering of the processing units may lead to a setback in shrimp exports in coming months.
