Linear Models with R.
Julian J. FARAWAY. Boca Raton, FL: Chapman & Hall/CRC, 2005, x + 229 pp., $79.95 (H), ISBN: 1-58488-425-8.
Julian Faraway has written an excellent text on the practical use of regression and analysis of variance that strikes a balance between clear presentation of the relevant theory and hands-on analysis over a broad range of topics. The text is written in a conversational tone that lends itself to easy comprehension; the author's style seems particularly suited to the topic. The author's objective is for the reader to "learn what methods are available and more importantly, when they should be applied" (p. ix); this aspect seems to have been ...
