Twelve years ago, we had a wild dream about forming an organization that could lead the building industry to a national consensus on green building. Today, the U.S. Green Building Council is well into its second decade, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) has just celebrated its fifth anniversary, and the transformation of the built environment that we envisioned is well underway.

But now is not the time to sit back and congratulate ourselves on our successes; instead, it is a time for us to take our mission to the next level and chart a path to even greater success in the future.
