Aug. 10--Biotechnology giant Amgen Inc. is in late-stage testing of what could be a breakthrough osteoporosis drug that would be produced in Boulder.
Patients would get the drug, known as AMG 162, or denosumab, by injection twice a year, eliminating the need for weekly, monthly or daily pills.
Denosumab, pronounced den-ahs-oo-mab, has billion-dollar potential for Amgen as baby boomers age, said Andrew McDonald, senior biotechnology analyst for ThinkEquity Partners in San Francisco.
