STANDARD Life has moved to reassure emergency workers with life insurance and critical illness policies that claims will not be declined on the basis of terrorism.

The life company responded to inquiries from policyholders and advisers asking if claims would be declined if death or disability were caused through a terrorist attack.

Mick James, protection manager of Standard Life, said: "We are very aware of people's concerns at this time and thought it was a good idea to reassure them and explain our position.
