Aug. 12--Lots more swimmers were splishing and splashing this summer at Odessa's municipal pools and water parks than last year, but there weren't enough to enable the city to receive a slice of gate revenues.

Revenue from the four city pools this summer was $113,801, an 18 percent increase over the $95,866 figure from last year.

The number of swimmers this summer came to 56,328, an increase of 21 percent over last year when 46,255 showed up.

Under the arrangement the city has with Midland-based COM Aquatics, the city pays COM $175,000 each year to manage the pools.
