CHICAGO _ Joe Girardi may not have long to wait before succeeding his mentor, Joe Torre, as the Yankees' manager.
The Yankees felt like the White Sox sucker-punched them when they lost back-to-back 2-1 games Tuesday and Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. The losses gave the Yankees a little more ground to close in the American League playoff race, which features five teams (the Red Sox, Yankees, Athletics, Angels and Indians) fighting for three spots.
