New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) President A P J Abdul Kalam Sunday said India must set itself the task of achieving "Energy Independence" within the first quarter of the century and give it the "first and highest priority".
Addressing the nation on the eve of 59th Independence Day, he said to achieve this, which is well within the capability of the country, it is important that a comprehensive renewable energy policy is evolved within a year.
"Today on this 59th Independence Day, I would like to discuss with you .. an important area, that is Energy Security as transition to total Energy Independence," he said in his address which entirely focussed on science ...
