This book has been produced in a commendably short period of time, with the exception of a previously unpublished paper given by Paul Benichou at the Sorbonne in 1996. Though the phrase 'La dame de le poeme XLII' on page 224 has slipped through, such speed has led to no major problems in this handsomely produced volume.
