Spain remains the most popular overseas destination for Brits to buy homes, beating France, Portugal and Italy.
The 500,000 - some say 750,000 - Brits who own homes are concentrated on the Costa del Sol, where expats are lured by sun, sea, sangria and cheap flights.
Such is the influx of second homeowners that there are signs this stretch of coast is losing its allure.
Spencer Walker, of estate agent Escapes2, which is based on the outskirts of Marbella, admits the boom on the Costa del Sol is over. But he insists the area is still worth investing in - and one of the best places to find a bargain.
