BANGKOK, Aug 16 Asia Pulse - The Thai government has continued to tighten the noose around the Bangkok Post's neck in what The Nation today described as a "very rare and staggering legal move by the government against the media."
The Bangkok Post said today government-owned Airports of Thailand (AoT) and New Bangkok International Airport (NBIA) Monday filed a criminal libel lawsuit against Post Publishing Plc (SET:POST) and the editor of the Bangkok Post, Kowit Sanandang, for alleged defamation.
The newspaper said the maximum penalty for criminal libel is two years imprisonment and a 200,000 baht (US$4,870) fine.
