Israel's Messiah. Edited by Richard S. Hess and M. Daniel Carroll R. (Baker Academic, $17.99). The essays in this volume were delivered at a conference at Denver Seminary in 2001. The goal of this conference was to offer a venue in an evangelical setting for considering the biblical text both within its original context and in the modern world. Hence, there are essays (and responses) dealing with the Old Testament, Dead Sea Scrolls, New Testament, and the role of the messiah in the work of liberation theologian Jon Sobrino.
