Inner Mongolia's rare earth producers shutdown due to pollution problems
Shanghai. August 16. INTERFAX-CHINA . Inner Mongolia's rare earth producers are shutting down at a rapid pace due to pollution, quota problems and high costs, shrinking the industry in the largest production area in China.
Right now, only 30 rare earth producers are operating in Inner Mongolia, a sharp contrast to the around 100 companies in 2003.
Production shares from the whole industry in Inner Mongolia have dropped 40% in the first half, an official surnamed Teng with Baotou Steel Rare Earth Hi-tech Co. Ltd, the largest producer of the material in China, told Interfax ...
