As we are all aware, champagne, and especially the well-known houses, are going through a difficult period in 1992. While the smaller houses flaunt rock-bottom prices, those of the better known houses are also dropping. Sales of inexpensive wines are up while sales of expensive wines are down. It is therefore all the more necessary for those houses which aspire to Grande Marque status to re-affirm their differences, so as to protect their images and sales on international markets. The proposals that I am making today on behalf of Champagne Bollinger are designed to take us in this direction.
