NEW MR. COFFEE HOME CAFE ADDRESSES VERSATILITY ISSUES.

NEW YORK-In launching a new version of its Home Cafe single-serve brewer, Mr. Coffee is doing more than just tweaking a concept.

Executives at Jarden, Applica and other companies have spoken frankly in recent months about the need to improve this emerging category, which some say was rushed to market. Now, executives are talking about having learned from their mistakes to improve the products and grow its market share.

"The most overt difference from last year's model is an improvement on consumer usability," said Lisa Willey, global marketing director for Mr. Coffee. "We've learned what the consumer didn't like."
