Vernon Hills police plan to re-establish a suburban tradition of sharing their craft with the public, hosting next month what could be described as a trade show for cops.
More than a dozen departments will participate Sept. 10 and 11 in the first Lake County-only law enforcement exhibition at Westfield Shoppingtown Hawthorn.
"It's a big open house. That's what it is," Vernon Hills police officer Jim Levicki said.
Such shows have been absent the past few years after being held for more than two decades at the Randhurst mall in Mount Prospect. That event folded after anchor stores left the mall and foot traffic ...
