Cheaper Nitrogen, Less Pollution

Producing anhydrous ammonia fertilizer from coal rather than natural gas will result in fewer emissions from Royster-Clark's East Dubuque, Ill., fertilizer plant as well as cheaper nitrogen fertilizer and cleaner-burning diesel fuel, company officials say.

Royster-Clark is partnering with Rentech Inc., a Colorado corporation that owns Advanced Clean Coal Technology, to convert coal to nitrogen fertilizer and ultra-clean burning, low-sulfur Fischer-Tropsch GTL diesel fuel.
