The Cost of Soybean Rust
New studies conducted by the University of Illinois and Louisiana State University reveal how much soybean rust could cost farmers if it invades fields in those states next season.
The Illinois analysis takes into consideration three levels of rust severity. "It's clear that [soybean] rust will have a significant economic impact no matter which scenario is used," says Peter Goldsmith, a fellow in Agricultural Strategy at the National Soybean Research Laboratory.
