Quite often, hollow metal specifications call for frames to be grouted. On exterior openings receiving screw-applied weatherstripping, we have found that the contractor often fails to take this into consideration. It's amazing how many drill bits they can use, and naturally it is the supplier's fault! We have begun advising the contractor to properly prepare his frames in our hardware submittals.
Some example installation snafus:
* A regional high school with 6'8" high interior doors and parallel arm closers. All had to be replaced due to conflict with clear opening height.
* A senior high school with 6'8" high interior fire exit doors that had ...
