ATLANTA -- Family physicians and pediatricians would be more favorable toward giving children a second dose of varicella vaccine if a measles-mumps-rubella-varicella vaccine were available, Mona Marin, M.D., reported to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at its summer meeting.
The finding, among preliminary results of an ongoing CDC and University of Michigan survey of 1,100 physicians, was one of the reasons ACIP tabled a vote to recommend a second dose of varicella vaccine until Food and Drug Administration licensing of the Merck & Co. quadrivalent measles-mumps-rubella-varicella (MMRV) vaccine ...
