Despite damp weather and oppressive humidity, North Syracuse came out smoking in the first game of bracket play at the 2005 13-15 Babe Ruth World Series.
The Middle Atlantic Region champs led 6-0 at one point over the team from Norwalk, Conn. Norwalk crept back into the game late, placing the tying runner at the plate before North Syracuse closed the contest with a 7-5 victory.
With the win, North Syracuse advances to face Hawaii in the semifinals at 5 p.m. today.
