Rebecca Perth's family had a double loss to endure Friday.
Perth, 30, died early that day after what police say was a beating inflicted Tuesday by her son, Joshua Brown, 13.
Brown was arraigned Friday afternoon as an adult in City Court on a second-degree murder charge.
"It's like both people are getting taken away from us," said Roxanne Wood, Perth's younger sister and Brown's aunt.
