SWEET HOME - A registered sex offender who escaped from jail in The Dalles last week was found hiding out in a friend's house in Sweet Home early Tuesday with stolen guns and a stolen car, police said.
James Edward Anderson, 35, of Springfield was being held in the Linn County Jail on warrants alleging second-degree escape and criminal mischief.
He was sleeping on a couch when Sweet Home police surrounded the house and took him into custody about 1 a.m.
Anderson had escaped from the Northern Oregon Corrections Facility in The Dalles on Aug. 9. He allegedly cut through a plasterboard ceiling, ...
