Aug. 19--Santa Fe City Councilor David Pfeffer flew to a Republican Party event in Hobbs on Thursday in an airplane owned by an unidentified supporter of his "exploratory" bid for the U.S. Senate next year.
"What I have been doing is exploring the possibility of running," he said. "I've been traveling around the state, going to Republican functions to meet with county chairs and party activists."
Pfeffer recently had printed 4-by-9-inch, full-color glossy cards that promote what he calls a " prospective" candidacy. They include photographs of him with Vice President Dick Cheney and former Georgia Sen. Zell Miller.
