KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 Asia Pulse - The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad's (NSTP) (KLSE:3999) group pre-tax profit tumbled 72.4 per cent on-year to RM6.069 million (US$1.6 million) during the first six months of this year following a sharp increase in newsprint prices.
Revenue for the period fell 3.1 per cent on-year to RM255.833 million despite an 8.0 per cent growth in total publishing revenue during the second quarter, Malaysia's leading newspaper publishing group said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Friday.
It said the lower revenue had been anticipated following the disposal of an insurance subsidiary and cessation of a few subsidiaries.
