The DAV July 14 presented to each of 12 World War II veterans of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate a specially designed award containing a piece of granite from the National World War II Memorial in recognition of their military service to our nation and their continuing service as members of Congress.
National Commander Alan W, Bowers told those members of Congress receiving the award that the "men and women we honor were young when they fought to preserve our heritage of freedom. And when it came time for them to return to civilian life, they continued to serve with distinction helping to create the America we have today."
