The author of this book presents in nine self-contained essays as many reasons why feminist theory has been and remains one of the most critical and thought-provoking lenses through which to analyze all and various aspects of the ancient world. Although Suzanne Dixon readily admits that two of her "chapters" (4 and 6) are revisions of previously published articles, the volume as a whole is as refreshing as a blast of cool water on a hot summer's day.
