Q.I am 47 and in good health, apart from an arthritic hip, which makes me walk lopsidedly. I have had it since my 20s but the pain is now becoming unbearable. I am overweight because this limits my movements. I was listed for a resurfacing operation but the surgeon dissuaded me because he said it would not improve my mobility and I might regret it if the operation wasn't a success. Please can you help?
