Blogs have already carved their place in corporate and political history, having been responsible for such incidents as triggering a multimillion-dollar worldwide product recall and exposing a high-profile CBS News story about US president Bush's Texas Air National Guard service as factually false.
The CBS incident prompted a series of resignations and sackings, and is believed to have played a role in the resignation of CBS's top newsreader Dan Rather, after several blog sites run by members of the public investigated the story and published their evidence that the story was wrong.
