This is an exceptional book. It is simply one of the best books ever written about American Quakerism--high praise indeed, but deserved. A novice primer on Quakers, it also doubles as a quick reference for specialists. An introduction to Quaker beliefs and history, it breaks new ground while untangling one of the more perplexing contemporary American religions.
