The Knights Templar will always remain a popular subject. A medieval military order, the Templars defended the Holy Land for centuries only to be suppressed in 1312. The secretive nature of the order, coupled with the controversy and scandal of its demise, has made it a focal point for legend ever since. Innumerable books have been written on the Templars, and there is no sign of that trend abating.
