USA-based pharmaceutical company Allergan has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market a new formulation of its ocular hypertension drug Alphagan P (brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution) 0.1%.
The new product is an optimized formulation of predecessor Alphagan 0.2% and was developed to minimize drug exposure while maintaining efficacy. FDA clearance of the new version broadens the Alphagan franchise, currently the world's third-largest-selling glaucoma treatment range, the firm noted.
