OCEANFRONT - A memorial to the history of naval aviation in Hampton Roads is starting to take off.
Statues for the Naval Aviation Monument will be installed in just a few weeks, and most of the work will be done by November.
"We are in the last phase now," said Fred J. Metz, a retired rear admiral who chairs the monument committee of the Hampton Roads Squadron of the Association of Naval Aviation.
