Joseph "Leo" Rump lived a long, quiet life. He liked it that way.
"He was a nice person," said his daughter, Anna Maria Mann of Covington. "Friendly. He was quiet."
Mr. Rump, of Covington, who died Wednesday at 78, grew up on a farm in the Visalia area of Kenton County.
He attended St. Cecilia school in Independence, and graduated from the eighth grade.
After graduation, he went to work on the family farm. During World War II, he served in the Navy, but never had to go overseas, said his wife, Janet.
She thinks he spent most of his time swabbing decks.
