ADDYSTON PLANT SPARED LANXESS CUTS.(Business)

Lanxess Corp. is closing three U.S. manufacturing plants as part of a global restructuring, but the consolidation hasn't affected its Addyston plastics plant so far, the company said.

Spun off from Bayer in January, German-based Lanxess said the latest cutbacks are part of an effort it began last year in Europe. The company makes chemicals, synthetic rubber and plastics. It had about 2,100 U.S. employees, including about 400 in Addyston.

Lanxess last month announced top-level management changes and a $1.3 million investment in new process controls in Addyston. It has also recently completed a wastewater treatment project ...
